Mahjong is more than a game — it’s an experience that brings people together around the table. Our lessons are designed to make learning approachable, fun, and confidence-building so you can begin enjoying Mahjong with friends and family right away.
Each class lasts approximately 3 hours. Please plan to arrive at least 20 minutes early so you can grab your dinner, settle in, and get comfortable before we begin. Class will start promptly at the listed time.
All materials needed for learning are provided, along with dinner, a drink, and dessert. Just bring your fabulous self — we’ll take care of the rest!
What You’ll Learn in Mahjong 101- Mahjong 101 introduces the essential foundations of the game, including:
• A brief history of Mahjong
• Rules of play following National Mahjongg League (NMJL) guidelines
• Tile identification
• How to read and understand the NMJL card
• Table etiquette and game flow
• The Charleston (tile exchange)
• Playing your first hands of Mahjong
Depending on the pace of the class, participants will usually play one or two practice games.
Classes are non-refundable, but we will allow for one rescheduled class.
